Best Swan Timber

Burmese Teak, originating from the Union of Myanmar, boasts a consistent golden-brown hue devoid of markings, complemented by a typically straight to slightly wavy grain pattern. Its texture is notably coarse, uneven, and imbued with an oily touch. While Burmese Teak demonstrates exceptional durability, it is susceptible to insect attacks and presents challenges in preservative treatment.

True Burma Teak showcases a uniform dark golden-brown heartwood, characterized by its absence of markings and tendency to darken to a mid to dark brown shade upon exposure. Although most teak exhibits a dark golden-yellow coloration, its grain is commonly straight but occasionally wavy, accompanied by a coarse, uneven texture and naturally oily feel. Regarded as the epitome of quality wood, Teak is highly durable, easy to work with, finishes beautifully, and possesses innate attractiveness. However, sourcing authentic Burma Teak has become increasingly challenging due to stringent harvesting regulations, rendering it comparatively expensive yet esteemed for its superior quality.

Teak's hard, medium-density composition renders it strong and enduring, naturally resistant to acids and fires. While relatively cooperative with both hand and machine tools, Teak's silica content may dull tools over time. Nonetheless, it achieves an impressive finish and readily accepts paints, varnishes, oils, and stains.

Burmese Teak finds extensive applications in ship and boat building, notably for decking, rails, and hatches. It is also prized in furniture and cabinet making, flooring, garden furniture, fume ducts, laboratory benches, decorative veneers, office furniture, joinery, and kitchen cabinets.

The properties of Burmese Teak include medium bending and high crush strength, low stiffness, shock resistance, and great dimensional stability, with moderate steam bending characteristics.

Recognized as the highest-graded teak, it enjoys widespread utilization in European countries. FEQ teak showcases uniformity across all four faces, characterized by stripes with quarter, crown, grain, grainless, or semi-types. Predominantly favored in the marine industry, FEQ teak serves as a prime choice for yacht and boat construction due to its exceptional quality. Additionally, it is sought after for manufacturing premium furniture pieces and outdoor decking applications.

Middle East Quality (MEQ) stands as another esteemed standard for teak wood. According to its official specifications, MEQ teak allows for one or two defects, such as saps or knots. Primarily destined for export to Middle Eastern countries, MEQ teak maintains a consistent quality that meets regional preferences.
